Blessed

Needless to say, it was a long day and words cannot express how thankful I am for it to be over. God answered our prayers and Mike and I still have jobs. Thank you to everyone who prayed for us and checked on us throughout the day!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is "the day", it's actually the third "day" of this kind in the last four months. Tomorrow, Mike and I find out if we still have jobs.

Please say prayers for us and that we both keep our jobs, and that above all, we remember that He is in control and His plan is perfect.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:5-6

M*A*S*H

Every Saturday night, right after the 10 o'clock news, Channel 12 plays one episode of one of my favorite shows. I have no idea why I like M*A*S*H so much, maybe because I remember watching it growing up, but that one episode each week is one of the simple (and somewhat silly) treats in my life.

"Little" Brother

My "little" brother(little being a relative term since he's 6'7"), Jordan, plays intramural basketball at the University of Missouri. He sent me a link to this video today:

Yep, that's my little bro. Now if only his school chanted "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" instead of "MIZ - ZOU".

Love ya, George!

Hello, DTV!

At midnight tomorrow most of the TV stations in Wichita are proceeding with the switch to digital (despite the fact that they now have until June something) and I am SO glad for two reasons:

1. I don't have to go "up" one channel after I've punched in the station I want to watch (we don't have cable)

2. I don't have to watch the commercials, tickers at the bottom of the screen, or reminders EVERY SINGLE NIGHT on the news. I will admit, this commercial is pretty funny.

Valentine's Day weekend

Mike and I had a relaxing weekend. We hung out at home, cleaned, visited my grandparents and I made our Valentine's night dinner (chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, asparagus and rolls) that we ate by candlelight and with the fire on.

As much as I enjoy a good fire in the fireplace, I am ready for Spring. We've had a few really nice days the last few weeks and I enjoyed opening the windows but I'm ready to open them more and get busy on Spring cleaning. As a jump start on that, I rearranged the guest bedroom and it looks so much bigger! Now I have another wall to find something for but I think this one will be a little easier. I want to get a chair for the corner next to the window and closet and a little table to put under my 'Waterlilies' painting (thank you again, Jamie!) instead of the chair.

Future Photographer?

This is one of my favorite pictures that I've taken. I love pictures. I love the moments they capture, the feelings they express, the beauty you can see in them.

My Mom started taking pictures for different families we know, that turned into Senior pictures, baby pictures and more. Photography is always something I've wanted to do but never had that "gift" or rather, the opportunity to see if I have that gift but soon, I get to!

Some of our friends recently became foster parents, something I admire so much. I asked if I could take pictures of their current foster child so I could start practicing/playing with photography and hopefully give them a chance to get some good, not to mention cheap, photos for them to have. We're taking pictures this weekend and I'm so excited.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Nothing Specific

Not much has been going on here lately, but here are the highlights:
  • We made it through a second round of layoffs at Cessna and are saying BIG prayers that we make it through round three. We're also saying prayers for everyone who has lost their jobs and thanking God for blessing us in the ways He has and praying that regardless of what happens, that we continue to trust Him. Please keep us and our jobs in your prayers, too!
  • Mike and I are wrapping up week 3 of nasty colds. I completely lost my voice yesterday and hope it comes back before work tomorrow.
  • My family was here this weekend to celebrate my Grandad's birthday. Mike and I stayed home from dinner with them last night because we didn't want to expose my grandparents. I felt bad but knew is was the right thing to do.
  • We have curtains for our bedroom, thanks to my Mom and Dad and their Christmas gift to us. I need to finish buying the hardware though so we can actually hang them, I'm just waiting on more BB&B coupons in the mail! :-)
  • The weather this weekend was beautiful and I'm ready for Spring!
That's really it - lots of random things, and nothing that exciting, but I wanted to get a new post up. :-)
